The Sudbury Steel House has been years in the making, with most of the time spent on securing approvals for construction and design. The goals of this project have been to tailor the house design to the site and to use pre-manufactured parts and materials to build a super insulated, sustainable home.

Core Concept
The core concept of the project has been to utilize concrete and steel as the primary materials for structure and finish, while using wood primarily for finishes and interior design.

Location
The proximity to the Sudbury River and its flood plain required building a new foundation, elevated well above the previous structure’s position.

Materials
The materials for this project have been selected for their durability, insulation, and ability to provide excellent indoor air quality.
